What's on their fast feet?

Oh yes, I'm into shoes, you know, of course heels, but being pregnant I've been wearing 2 inch sandals which to me is like flats. When watching the Olympics Opening Ceremony tonight and the Olympic games and track races, especially the track races (400 dash!) I'm paying attention to the shoes! I used to wear very colorful shoes when I ran (yes, gotta plug my new book, and in "Careful," and Estella used to run the 400 dash in hot pink racing flats. :)

12:00 PM EST

Tune in here:

The podcast scoop:

Isobella Jade reads from her new YA book Careful, due July 26, 2012. Careful is about the spirit of a sixteen year old girl who dies in a texting and driving crash and Jade calls the book "a Lovely Bones meets The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, deeply sentimental but with a bit of edge." Careful is the first book of the Careful, Quiet, Invisible series. Watch the book trailer here:

Jade is a model, author and publisher based in New York City. Jade first gained buzz for how she wrote her first book Almost 5'4" at the Apple retail store in SoHo when she did not have a computer at the time.

Her memoir Almost 5'4" is about her journey as a shorter-than-average model in New York City and her graphic novel Model Life: The Journey of a Pint-Size Fashion Warrior shares her experiences as a model in an illustrated format with illustrations by Jazmin Ruotolo. Inspired by her blog readers, in Jade's collection of on the job experiences featured in Short Stuff: on the job with an x-small model she includes tips and advice for shorter aspiring models.

Jade and her books have been featured in media outlets such as The New York Post, The New York Times, Advertising Age,,, Page Six, Galleycat/, The Los Angeles Times, The Sydney Morning Herald, and many others around the globe.

Isobella Jade quote: Striving and reaching a goal

You can do it! When something is tough or a challenge, frustrating or bringing you down, don't let the doubt win. Listen to your inner voice and focus on the steps, one by one, and the journey, day by day, remind yourself of what you're thankful for and be proud of yourself for all you've accomplished so far. Striving and reaching your goal means believing in yourself and giving yourself that chance. ~IJ

The best thing you can do for yourself is to have an interest in something, have a passion for something, and to know your skills.

Woke up thinking: The best thing you can do for yourself is to have an interest in something, have a passion for something, and to know your skills. This can help set up your path for life and keep you positive in tough times and inspire you. I find it sad when kids get out of high school and don’t know themselves, what their good at, or their skills. It’s such an important thing to know for yours...elf and what interests you. It’s your life and each day is yours. You don’t have to know the moment you graduate what you want to do for the rest of your life, but at least it’s good to know what your interests are, what are your skills. When I got out of high school I didn’t have the best grades but I was a competitive track runner, and I knew what classes in school I excelled at and from a young age I was into art and writing so that led me toward finding colleges with art/advertising and running programs. Then, through modeling and my writing my first book I learned about being a self-marketer. As I continue to write and publishing books I could think that I’m doing something totally different than what I thought my skills were, but writing involves creativity, creating a book cover and book trailer involves an artistic side and marketing it all takes the will to research and be a self-promoter. Writing, art, marketing all entwine here.

I’m also really big on having a passion and hobby, a passion beyond staring at ridiculous pointless TV shows. Everyone needs something that makes them feel alive, an interest that fulfills their purpose and allows them to use a part of themselves that can get easily lost among the day to day routine of survival. I believe in never being bored and always being up for learning and discovering. When you allow your mind to absorb the fun in discovery and you’ll see there’s so much to do and see in this world and enjoy, so embrace those thoughts and wonders that makes you think. ~IJ

Book contest! Did you wear white to your prom like Estella did?

Hey Girls,

The first book, Careful, of my new YA novel series Careful, Quiet Invisible launches soon, on July 26, 2012!

But before Careful is available on Amazon and, etc., I'm holding a few special contests to win a signed copy of the book.

The first contest starts today!

In Careful, Estella dies in a texting and driving crash, but before the crash she goes prom dress shopping with her best friends and picks out a white prom gown, and she loves the one shoulder strap design of the dress and the line of silver beaded daisies on it too.

Did you wear a white dress to your prom?

The first girl to send me a jpeg of themselves wearing a white prom dress wins the signed book!

Typically I'd like the winner to be a girl from this years 2012 prom.

Submit your first name, and a low res jpg of yourself in your prom dress to

Check out Estella's dress in the book trailer for Careful (to hear better click here and watch the trailer on Youtube, or turn off the sound on my podcast to the right of the blog).

Next, I'll be sharing the adventure of finding Estella's white prom dress and my hunt for the perfect dress in NYC.

Cheers to life long love,

Happy 4th!

I don't love everything about our American history to be honest, some of it disturbs me, but I do like that you can start with very little and how far you go is limitless with passion and courage. It's interesting to learn about American inventions and the history of how and when things we use today were made, like "Willis Carrier invented and manufactured the world's first mechanical air conditioning unit in 1902." via

I hope you have a memorable 4th whether your relaxing or enjoying BBQ think about your own American journey and the places you've seen and been on our beautiful land. I want to see the sequoia national park one day :)
