The illustrations by Helen Oxenbury are energetic (you can almost here the kids in the illustration yelling "YAY a forest!"), beautiful and look like watercolors and are vibrant. I love how when the characters are approaching the next obstacle to go through the illustration is black and white, like a charcoal illustration, then when you turn the page and the characters are Swishying through grass or Splashing through the river the illustrations are in color.
Enjoy this interview with Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury on creating the book.
The best part about this book is that YOU can go on a bear hunt with your child/babies or toddlers after reading this! Right in your own town or neighborhood you can go hunting for birds, wild life or the best walking stick!
