win by barely an inch sometimes
"Don't give up on what you want, feed any doubt you feel with knowing that what you want, you can have, with passion and endurance. Before I was a model & author I was a pretty damn good runner, during the last 100 meters I could not feel my little legs, but my will felt differently, there was still an ounce of energy inside and that I used, pushing, leaning my little body forward, to win by barely an inch sometimes." ~Isobella Jade

doing-it-yourself
doing-it-yourself can involve some frustration, swear words, re-do's, and prioritizing, sacrifice, and even some tears, but the result of doing what you want to do and accomplishing that goal, seeing the vision that you have come to life, is worth it. :) ~isobella jade

Hold onto the soul, root and meaning of what it is you want to do. Don't measure your success against anyone's doubt.
Hold onto the soul, root and meaning of what it is you want to do. Don't measure your success against anyone's doubt. If you want to do something do it. Do it with an eager heart and truth, don't forget why you want to do it in the first place and make sure there is a reason.

striving on
There will be rejection, there will be no's, and you can cry about it for a few seconds, release some stress but then clean up your face and keep on keepin on because if you put the right energy and attitude into it, you will get a yes if you continue on, do what you need to do, put the work in, and strive on. Day by d...ay, this is what I have told myself, and continue to tell my self with each new goal in mind. - isobella jade

Modeling, striving and the psychology of self love
On my Facebook Wall I wrote today: "It is common to dwell on what we don't have, what we are not, but that usually doesn't bring you forward towards your goals and happiness while chasing them, focus on what you DO have, and using what you DO have to get ahead. It is so important in modeling, and in life, to accept, use and give attention to what you do have."
A comment from a striving model was: "YES and I was just dwelling on the don't haves but I'm over it so thanks for posting, came right on time. Also I just want to say that I got a newsletter from my agency with some really valuable info and one casting director said to make a list of all the reason WHY you are in the business and how they make you feel about your self worth. And I thought that was important in life also with anything so I am going to make my list today and see why in the world I am in this business. This should be interesting."
I wrote back "I totally I agree, awesome that you mentioned the newsletter. Knowing your self can make you a more postive person, knowing the WHY, why you want to pursue something, can also keep you focused and realistic. If you don't know why you are an asset to the modeling/business then you should think twice about pursuing it. Knowing your self ... See Moreand why you want to work wthin the modeling world, (which is really the world of advertising, media and marketing and putting your image out there for product marketing) is important because knowing WHY helps you go forward, carry on, and especially in a tough industry like modeling can be... I AGREE 100%. Knowing why can lead you to opportunities. It is a good idea to know your assets or how you can be used in the industry and why you want to be working within modeling. YES! Make the list, I think everyone who reads my Wall and strives in modeling/entertainment/the arts should actually! Thanks for sharing :) -isobella"
Then I added to the conversation:
"It takes confidence to put your self out there, but it also involves the psychology of self love, a positive spirit, a realistic mentality coupled with energy and the endurance to handle the rejection, and the off days. When I need encouragement I tend to grab biographies of women who have strived in their live, or watch an inspiring movie, or write about what I am going through, or listen to a good song. Today I found this interview of the screenwriter of Precious, Geoffrey Fletcher, and beyond the movie, HIS story, of believing in himself as a writer and carrying on is inspiring: http://filmmakeriq.com/general/interviews/precious-screenwriter-geoffrey-fletcher.html"

where there is advertising there are models of all sizes and types.
If you are thinking short models can only be glamour models, think again.
If you are thinking brands, products and magazines only work with tall giraffes, think again.

There are petite brands out there, you just have to look for them. Some petite brands that were involved with my book party for "Model Life: The Journey of a Pint-Size Fashion Warrior" were: Sweet Petite's (great yoga pants and sportswear for petite sizes, Lula Lu Lingerie (bra's and panties for petite sizes), Bakers Shoes, great heels for under $100. I do not support glamour models, or becoming one, or being just a tease, very few can translate that into last for more than a few years or make it a real career. Even if you are shorter, if you want more, you have to do the work to find the right agencies, the right opportunties, you have to work for it. Because you can model for lifestyle products, and accessories brands, there is also parts modeling, and more opportunities are found in commercial print modeling. Notice beauty editorials, ads for shoes, handbags, haircare, everything from computers to banks, they are not all tall. There are more print modeling agencies out there than fashion agencies. You have to do the research. Not just short celebrities are modeling for lifestyle brands and products, models of all sizes are working, because where there is advertising there are models of all types.

The Marketing Before the Model and Product
While sipping coffee, and wearing his shirt, I was discussing with my fiance' on this first today of 2010, on how brands should think of the marketing before the product is even made.
Many retailers produce too much product that does sell well. I just think of the waste of fabric, labor, and time. I think it is best to always consider the marketing and the sellablity before an item is put into production. Also consider the cost of production, marketing of the brand, before you set a price for and produce a certain quantity of the product. Also how does a brand expect to sell a product without considering the marketing that will help it's customers know about the brand and products to purchase. You can have a great product, even at a good price and a good quality item, but if no one knows about it, if your customer is not aware, then who cares?
Same with movies. The marketing should be in place before the movie is even made.
So much money gets spent and wasted when the marketing is put as something to consider at the end of the production.
I think of this mindset when it also comes to modeling. Before a girl thinks about working as a model, pursuing it, and gets in front of the camera, she should first think about what she has that is marketable towards editorials, ad campaigns, and what products and types of modeling jobs she could realistically get. Then shape her photos around the answers. This mentality should be carried through-out her pursuits and the production of her compcard and mailing the "right" agencies that work with models like her.
Many girls get infront of the camera too soon, just for the heck of it, and them call themselves models. Then their photos are just on social sites and there they are, without an agency to work with, without a real modeling job, without a marketable compcard, and with photos with bad lighting being commented on by perverts, they wonder why they are not really "working as a model."
Well, it is because step one, the very first step was not taken. Don't skips step one of "knowing what is marketable about you and researching the right agencies, and understanding what the word model really means and how it applies to what you are realistically capable of."
I hope this year your goals come closer and you captured them!
